Every week, the WTBU Music Directors add 5-10 new albums to WTBU's rotation library. These are mostly local, underground, and/or independently released records. (Very few of these adds are from major labels or maintain a sound with mainstream potential, though there are some exceptions.) We also add many self-released albums and occasionally reissues. Usually, after three months, albums are moved from the rotation library to the back library.
At WTBU, we have two types of shows: rotation shows (which are required to play 4 songs per hour from the rotation library) and specialty shows (such as world, hip-hop, and RPM, which are not required to play from the rotation, as the rotation is mostly comprised of various interpretations/formations of "rock" and "pop" sounds.)
Left of the Dial is special in that we play almost entirely from the rotation library, ensuring 2 full hours of almost all new, independent or self-released, local, underground, and/or otherwise incredible music.
